The Variance

It feels like crap to run this bad. So I've had some Frequent Player Points (FPP) saved up from Poker Stars for awhile, and I decided to play some of their steps tournament which could turn into an EPT trip. It was running good for awhile as I started maybe 10 step 1s, and have built it up to 3 step 4s, 2 step 3s and 1 step 2s. (To advance from one step to the next, you must finish in the top 2 from a 9 player tournament). And then the doom switch was pushed. I have never, I mean never, ran this bad before. This is not just AK vs. A3 where the guy hits a 3, or top pair against a flush draw because those I can deal with, but these are KK vs. AA, QQ vs. KK, or the odd time when I have KK vs. 99, or AA vs 1010, they manage to hit one of their two cards by the end. It has been sickening. So I have lost all of my tournament tickets, and I will again, be taking some time off (seems like I say that alot). It feels like I have "spurts" where I play alot (compared to others, its like nothing - but in any case), which usually takes place for 2 weeks or so, and then I take "breaks" of anywhere from 2 days to 2 months. I really do not have the desire to grind low limit cash game anymore. It doesn't feel as fun as it used to be, and tournaments/SnGs have such incredibly high variance, so I just play whenever I feel like it. It is still a very fun, and sometime profitable game/hobby, but my motivation to put in the hours and hands is simply not where it was a year ago today.

The World of Judy Yan

The way to wish people good luck before an exam...

"and when u write an exam u want to have a brain diarrhea..where all the info in ur brain just spills out onto the paper HAHAHAHHAHAHHA"

Or..if you really hate the other person...

"I hope you have a brain constipation"

Aussie Open

My sleeping pattern is official messed...been up watching tennis til sunrise for the past few days. At least the women's finals is tonight and I really have no interest in the men's finals, so hopefully after this weekend I am going to be able to somehow correct my sleeping schedule back to normal.

But wow, Federer and Nadal losing in straight sets in the semis. Watched both matches almost in the entirity and both Tsonga and Djokovic had the match of the lives (more so for Tsonga). Both players were dominating in their matches and deserves to play in the finals...but its just weird seeing Nadal and Federer losing in straight sets...oh wells, sleep time!

Another Early Morning

I had one of those nights/mornings again, I was up until 5:45am watching the Aussie Open. It was a great match by Federer and Blake though. But I seriously need to do something about my sleep schedule, I can't continue this nocturnal-ness for the entire term...

Staying up does have its incentives

One of the benefits that came from not being able to sleep tonight was watching a 5-set thriller between Roger Federer and Janko Tipsarevic. What an exciting 5th set...

So its 4:30am....

...and I am still wide awake. For some reason my sleeping pattern has made a turn for the worst after I went back to Waterloo. Its not like I've been skipping class, heck, I've been to every single one of my lectures so far (well..I did leave one early), but yet I still have trouble falling asleep at a "normal" time. So now I am home in TO, up at 4:30am, trying to find a way to make myself tired...hopefully reading about personnel selection will do the trick...
